Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes, AFI's third album, features the first line-up change in the Berkley quartet since the release of Answer That and Stay Fashionable. Bassist Geoff Kresge left the band, later to join Tiger Army. The new bassist was Hunter Burgan, whom AFI merely borrowed from The Force. The rest of the band remained the same. Mark was even acknowledged as "The artist still known as Mark." Shut Your Mouth seemed a logical progression from Very Proud Of Ya, as well as being home to the band's second single, Third Season.
